What is TuxCloud?
TuxCloud is a hosting and cloud service platform built entirely on open-source technology. Inspired by the philosophy of freedom and privacy, we empower users and organizations to run their own infrastructure — without depending on closed platforms or surveillance-based services.
Why “Tux”?
Tux is the famous Linux penguin — a global symbol for free and open software. At TuxCloud, we adopt Tux not just as our mascot, but as our mission: openness, transparency, and independence. Every system we run is based on Linux and free software.

Part of the TUX.re Initiative
TuxCloud.org is part of the TUX.re network — an umbrella project for secure, ethical, and independent internet services.
TUX.re supports multiple privacy-first offerings including DNS infrastructure (dnsys.org), email and cloud hosting, and server tools — all powered by Linux and open standards. TuxCloud is the cloud-focused part of this network, offering easy access to Nextcloud, email servers, and collaboration platforms.
Who’s Behind TuxCloud?
TuxCloud is operated by a small group of sysadmins, developers, and privacy advocates who have worked in free software and independent hosting for over a decade. We’re based in Germany and contribute to open tech every day.
